(HENDERSON, Ky.) — A group of church volunteers gathered donated items into gift boxes for towboat crews during the holiday season, the Evansville, Ind., Courier & Press newspaper reported. The “Christmas on the River” project is geared toward mariners who can’t be home during the holiday season because they are working on vessels. Hand-knit “seamen’s scarves” also were prepared for the Ohio River boat crews.
