The following is the text of a press release issued by the U.S. Coast Guard:
(GEORGETOWN, S.C.) — The Coast Guard medically evacuated a 52-year-old-male with a head injury approximately 54-miles southeast of Winyah Bay, S.C., Sunday morning. The Wanchese, N.C., native was aboard the Tug Heron in transit to Yonkers, New York when the he slipped and fell, injuring his head. The severity of the injury increased when the man began showing symptoms of a possible heart attack. The tug crew then notified the Coast Guard for assistance.
Upon arrival, the Coast Guard helicopter crew from Air Facility Charleston, S.C., hoisted the man from the tug in 20-foot seas and 35 mph winds. He was then transported to Georgetown Memorial Hospital in stable condition.
