Cape May-Lewes Ferry runs aground on sandbar at low tide

(LOWER TOWNSHIP, N.J.) — The Cape May-Lewes Ferry ran aground for about two hours, the Press newspaper of Atlantic City reported. The MV New Jersey, with 35 passengers, lodged on a sandbar during a low, blow-out tide in a dredged area of the Cape May Canal just before it was about to dock on a voyage from Delaware. A higher tide freed the boat, and there was no damage.
