New Foss ferry begins service on Columbia River

Sanpoil 10 119x119

(KELLER FERRY LANDING, Wash.) – The 116-foot ferry Sanpoil has begun service on the Columbia River following a christening last week, The Spokesman-Review reported. The $9.5 million vessel replaces the smaller Martha S., which had been in operation since 1948. Sanpoil was constructed in 11 sections at Foss Maritime's shipyard in Ranier, Ore., with the modules then transported overland and assembled at Crescent Bay Park at Grand Coulee.
