(BATH, Maine) — Bath Iron Works has confirmed that it will lay off 40 workers effective Sept. 6 due to a slowdown in its production cycle, the Bangor Daily News reported. The layoffs will affect 15 pipe coverers and 25 insulators. BIW was recently awarded contracts worth $2.84 billion from the U.S. Navy.
