Coast Guard seeks feedback on icebreaker plan

(WASHINGTON) — The U.S. Coast Guard is seeking feedback from shipyards about its overall plan and schedule to build up to three new heavy icebreakers over the next decade. Currently, the project is in the “analyze/select” phase, which involves establishing operational requirements, evaluating the alternatives for achieving the requirements and assessing the merits of each alternative to select a solution, the Coast Guard said in a statement. The service has asked for responses to its proposal by Nov. 10.
