White House to host summit on Chicago canal, Asian carp issue

(WASHINGTON) — The White House will hold a summit on the question of closing the Chicago Sanitary and Ship Canal locks to block the migration of invasive carp, the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel newspaper reported. The Supreme Court this week declined to approve an injunction to shutter the locks to prevent Asian carp from entering the Great Lakes. The governors of all the Great Lakes states are expected to participate in the summit.
