(LEMONT, Ill.) — Illinois Marine Towing and industrial users of the Chicago Sanitary and Ship Canal praised the U.S. Supreme Court for not ordering the canal’s closure, the Lemont Reporter newspaper reported. The users said shutting the locks would have far-reaching negative impacts on the economy. American Waterways Operators said all the agencies involved should come to the table to discuss the best way to respond to the Asian carp problem.
