Virginia shipyard sues Navy over repair payment

(NORFOLK, Va.) — Colonna's Shipyard is suing the U.S. Navy over $3.8 million in payments to repair the patrol craft Squall, The Virginian-Pilot reported. In 2011, the shipyard requested and received a change in the contract to conduct more extensive work on the vessel, then submitted its request for payment. The Navy rejected most of the claim, with a contracting officer citing "self-inflicted wounds" such as inefficiency and paying overtime.
