U.S. ship Liberty Sun attacked by Somali pirates but escapes

(LONDON) — A U.S. ship carrying humanitarian aid came under attack from Somali pirates who fired rockets and automatic weapons, but the American ship escaped, the Times of London reported. The Liberty Sun, owned by Liberty Maritime Corp., was damaged in the attack and was being escorted to Kenya by the U.S. Navy. While pirates were attacking, the Liberty Sun’s crew barracaded themselves in the engine room and no one was hurt.
