Slowdown at Charleston container port hurts tugboat operators

(CHARLESTON, S.C.) — A slowdown at Charleston’s container port is hurting maritime businesses including tugboat operators, the Wall Street Journal reported. The port authority says it is rethinking some business plans after losing volume due to the economic slowdown and simultaneously losing market share to other Atlantic coastal ports. Savannah’s volume is increasing, for example.
