(NEW ORLEANS) — Explorer, a Pittsburgh-based science boat that teaches the community about protecting river systems, won the first Environmental Award at the recent WorkBoat Show in New Orleans, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reported. The 90-foot vessel carries 10,000 students per year around Western Pennsylvania waters. Among its power sources are biodiesel and rechargable batteries.
