RESOLVE MARINE GROUP ADAPTS TO HELP TANKER OPERATORS COMPLY WITH NEW U.S.

One of America’s largest salvage groups has reorganised its strategic corporate structure to help tanker operators to comply with new U.S. regulations.

Resolve Marine Group of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, has introduced Resolve Salvage & Fire LLC, a fully operational marine casualty response company which is organised to support and assist tanker operators as they produce new Vehicle Response Plans to comply with OPA 90 regulations, which become fully effective next year.

The regulatory amendments, recently highlighted by the US Coast Guard, require that tankership operators rewrite and submit for approval OPA 90 Vessel Response Plans (VRP) for their ships carrying petroleum to trade in U.S. waters. By June 1, 2010, VRPs must be revised to cite specifically qualified providers of salvage and fire fighting services and resources. The new regulations emphasise that VRPs should show coordination among all services in response to a marine casualty. Resolve’s reorganisation makes this process smoother still.

Bob Umbdenstock, Resolve’s Director of Planning, explained: “While Resolve has the most experienced group of salvage masters in the USA, this reorganisation strengthens the group’s response management capabilities nationwide by expanding our logistics and subcontractor networks to assure that our tanker operating clients will remain in continued compliance with OPA 90.”
