(KENNER, La.) — The captain of an offshore cargo ship who rescued survivors from the Deepwater Horizon rig said he witnessed a “black rain” of mud and fluid just before the rig exploded, Cable News Network reported. Alwin Landry said he witnessed rig crewmen jumping off the structure, with and without life jackets. His ship, the Damon Bankston, picked up several survivors from the water.
