Lawsuit: Deckhand suffered broken vertebrae in high-winds mishap

(EDWARDSVILLE, Ill.) — A deckhand for an Alton, Ill., floating casino says his employer never should have sent him out in a 16-foot jon boat in high winds, the Madison Record newspaper reported. His lawsuit says he was ordered to remove driftwood from underneath the casino’s stern while winds and river conditions were rough. He broke vertebrae and ruptured a disc in his back and needed surgery.
