(HALIFAX, Nova Scotia) — Irving Shipbuilding launched the future HMCS Harry DeWolf on Saturday, the first Arctic and offshore patrol ship (AOPS) for the Royal Canadian Navy, the National Post reported.

The 338-foot ship is the largest Navy vessel to be built in Canada in 50 years, according to Irving. It is one of six AOPS to be constructed at the shipyard. Delivery is scheduled for the summer of 2019.

The ship was transferred onto a submersible barge on Friday, then towed to its launch site in the Bedford Basin on Saturday.
