Drawbridge operator found drunk after complaint from tug crew

(BOSTON) — A drawbridge operator was allegedly intoxicated when he failed to open the McArdle Bridge for a tugboat, the Boston Herald newspaper reported. The 49-year-old tender has since resigned from his job after being placed on administrative leave. The tugboat crew contacted emergency dispatchers after they couldn’t reach the bridge operate to get the bridge opened.
