Claims against Nova Star operator reach $2.6 million

(PORTLAND, Maine) — An international fuel supplier has joined the list of creditors seeking money from the operator of the Nova Star ferry, bringing the total of claims to $2.6 million, the Portland Press Herald reported. Dubai-based Cockett Marine Oil filed a notice Thursday in U.S. District Court against Nova Star Cruises, claiming the company owes it more than $1 million for fuel delivered from Aug. 31 to Oct. 31. Cockett is requesting that the ship, which is being held in Portland, be sold at auction so it can get paid.
