Captain sentenced to home confinement in ship pollution case

(TACOMA, Wash.) — A Korean ship captain was sentenced to home confinement in an oil pollution case, the Seattle television station KIRO reported. The shipping company had pleaded guilty to keeping a false garbage record book. The captain was sentenced to two months home confinement and two years supervised release on charges of dumping hundreds of pounds of oil, contaminated waste and plastic bags into the ocean during a voyage between South Korean and Longview, Wash.
