(MEMPHIS, Tenn.) — A barge struck the Interstate 55 bridge over the Mississippi River on Wednesday, the second time in a week that a bridge in the area has been hit by river traffic, WREG reported. A spokesman for the U.S. Coast Guard said the barge was traveling north when it struck one of the columns of the I-55 bridge. A railroad bridge at Memphis was hit by a barge on Sunday.
