New ferry arrives in Maine, marking return of service to Nova Scotia

(PORTLAND, Maine) — The ferry Nova Star arrived in Portland Harbor on Thursday, marking the return of ferry service between Maine and Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, The Portland Press Herald reported. Service between the two ports ended in December 2009 following the cancellation of a Canadian subsidy for the Cat, the high-speed ferry operated by Bay Ferries Ltd. Nova Star will be inspected by the Coast Guard in Portland and will be fitted with casino games and other equipment.
