Alaska mariners getting worried about encroaching Cook Inlet shoal

(ANCHORAGE, Alaska) — Mariners, pilots and Anchorage port officials are becoming worried about a large shoal that is encroaching on shipping lanes in Cook Inlet, the Anchorage Daily News newspaper reported. The shoal is forming parallel to Point MacKenzie on the west side of the inlet toward Knik’s Arm navigation channel. State, port and Army Corps officials are discussion a potential dredging project and who would pay for it.
