Mass Maritime alumni help Maersk Alabama overcome pirates

(NAIROBI, Kenya) — At least two Massachusetts Maritime Academy graduates were involved in the retaking of a U.S.-flagged cargo ship from Somali pirates who had captured the ship, ABC News reported. The crew of the Maersk Alabama, which includes 20 Americans, turned the tables on the pirates. At least four pirates managed to board the ship after a five-hour chase and demanded ransom from the owners, but the Pentagon confirmed that the U.S. crew was back in control.
