(NEW YORK) — A U.S.-flagged cargo ship carrying a crew of 20 American mariners was seized by pirates off Somalia, the New York Times reported. The containership Maersk Alabama was carrying relief supplies to Kenya. The nearest patrol vessel was 300 miles away from the site of the hijacking.
