With operators concerned about cost, Coast Guard extends TWIC reader comment period

(WASHINGTON) — The U.S. Coast Guard has extended the public comment period on a proposed TWIC electronic reader rule, Government Security News reported. The comment period has been extended for 30 more days on the rule that would require the digital readers on certain vessels and in maritime facilities. The comments that have come in have largely urge the government not to add more added expenses on operators.
