(NEW YORK) — A federal judge has dismissed a $1 billion lawsuit by Spain against ABS, Bloomberg News reported. Spain had claimed that the Houston-based classification society was reckless in approving the single-hull M.T. Prestige to carry fuel. The ship sank in 2002, causing a major oil spill. The District Court judge ruled that U.S. law allows for no compensation to other countries for such alleged recklessness.
