(WASHINGTON) — A federal court in Virginia has sentenced a Somali man to 30 years in prison for his role in a piracy attack on a U.S. Navy ship, Agence France-Presse reported. The defendant had pleaded guilty to his role in the attempted hijacking of the USS Ashland, which the pirates mistakenly thought was a commercial vessel. It’s the first piracy sentencing in Norfolk in about 150 years.
