Tugboat hits cable, partially sinks near Tappan Zee Bridge

(NYACK, N.Y.) — A tugboat partially sank Thursday after hitting a cable securing a construction barge for the new Tappan Zee Bridge, The Journal News reported. Rockland County Sheriff Louis Falco said the crew safely escaped the 25-foot vessel. The U.S. Coast Guard will oversee an investigation of the incident, which occurred in the shallow section of the Hudson River on the south side of the bridge site.
