Tanker strikes San Francisco's Bay Bridge in fog, with PHOTOS

(SAN FRANCISCO) — An empty tanker struck a tower of the San Francisco Bay Bridge, damaging fendering, the San Francisco Chronicle newspaper reported. The Coast Guard is looking into human error as a cause. The ship was the 751-foot Overseas Reymar, which was piloted by a San Francisco Bar Pilot with eight years of experience. Visibility was a quarter-mile.
