(CORNWALL, Ontario) — The Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) is investigating after a fuel tanker grounded in the St. Lawrence River west of Cornwall late Thursday night, CBC News reported.
Damia Desgagnes was traveling west from Montreal to the Lake Erie community of Nanticoke in Ontario when the engine failed, according an official with vessel owner Groupe Desgagnes in Quebec City. The ship drifted and its bow grounded on sand about three nautical miles east of Iroquois, Ontario.
No pollution was reported from the ship, which is less than a year old and was carrying heavy fuel oil.
