Support grows for removing decaying ‘ghost fleet’ from James River

(ISLE OF WIGHT, Va.) — Another municipality has asked federal officials to remove the James River Reserve Fleet, the Daily Press newspaper of Newport News reported. The so-called “ghost fleet” of obsolete ships has polluted the James River for decades. One vessel, the Suribachi, is being sold for scrap recycling and will be gone by July.
