The following is a letter from the State University of New York (SUNY) Maritime College:
(THROGGS NECK, N.Y.) — Like all of you, we at SUNY Maritime College have been closely following the COVID-19 outbreak. The health, safety, and well-being of our students, faculty, staff, alumni and partners is our top priority. We hope you are doing well.
In line with all other events that have been canceled or postponed, we also want to let you know that the Admiral's Dinner has also been postponed to Sept. 22.
This is such an important event for the college. As you may know, the Admiral's Dinner is the primary vehicle to raise much needed scholarship funding for current students. With so many families having to adjust to the economic ramifications of the COVID-19 outbreak, we already know that there will be a greater need for scholarship funds for our students.
The extra time until the dinner will hopefully allow time for things to settle down, and for each of us to ensure that the dinner raises the critical necessary scholarship funding our students will no doubt need to complete their education and training.
