Sunken dredge raised from Erie Canal after almost a month

(PALMYRA, N.Y.) — A sunken dredge that was stuck in the Erie Canal for a month has finally been raised, The Daily Messenger newspaper of Canandaigua reported. A 10-mile section of the canal has been closed to vessel traffic since the barge sank in June. As a result of the incident, the Canal Corp. has decided to contract with a salvage company for a rapid response if a similar problem should happen again.
