(TOLEDO, Ohio) — News of the scrapping of the Great Lakes freighter Phoenix Star at Toledo Shipyard has turned a Facebook page into a shrine of sorts, the Toledo Free Press reported. The “Boatnerds of Facebook” page registered a surge of activity last week after a photo was posted of the ship with its wheelhouse collapsed into the hull. Financial trouble among owners led to the demise of the 50-year-old vessel.
