SAFETY ALERT: Check your lifejackets for inadequate snaphooks

The U.S. Coast Guard has issued a Marine Safety Alert warning that certain Revere lifejackets have been found to contain inadequate snaphooks. The problem has been highlighted by Coast Guard Sector New Orleans and more recently was reported by Washington State Ferries.

On some Revere models 198 RT and 160 RT, the spring-loaded tab in the waist belt’s snaphook is too long, preventing it from snapping closed. Therefore, the D-ring is not fully secured.

The Coast Guard urges operators with these models to inspect each lifejacket to look for the snaphook defect. If you discover such a problem, call 904-562-5900
or email jacksonville.sales@survitecgroup.com
