SAFE Boats International replaces CEO

(BREMERTON, Wash.) — SAFE Boats International elevated Chief Financial Officer Richard Schwarz to the post of chief executive officer Monday, according to a statement from the company's board of directors, the Kitsap Sun reported.

Schwarz replaced CEO Dennis Morris, who joined the Bremerton boat manufacturer in 2013.

SAFE Boats Chairman and co-founder Scott Peterson said the board parted ways with Morris after determining their visions for the company were not in "perfect alignment." He declined to provide further details.

He added the shift in leadership does not signal any major course correction for the business. "You’re going to see an organization really focused on its core values," Peterson said. "We feel really good about the future."

Morris could not be reached for comment Wednesday.

SAFE Boats employs about 250 workers at its small boat plant in the Olympic View Industrial Park at the Port of Bremerton. The company primarily builds small aluminum boats for military and law enforcement clients.
