(MIDDLETOWN, R.I.) —The Professional Captains Association (PCA), a trade organization representing professional boat captains, has announced the appointment of Edward Salamy as executive director.
Salamy brings extensive experience in association management and personal maritime knowledge to the PCA as the new organization begins to ramp up its efforts in 2021. His association management company, ETS Management Group based in Rhode Island, also oversees the efforts of the Automotive Body Parts Association and the Quality Parts Coalition.
“We are excited to bring Ed Salamy on as our executive director at the Professional Captains Association,” said Capt. Kent Dresser, president and founder of the PCA. “As we turn the page to 2021 after a challenging 2020, the PCA will be there for our members and Ed will be a fine addition to the organization to move us forward.”
The PCA will be hosting a webinar for prospective members on Feb. 7 at 6 p.m. EST to review the benefits and reasons why professional boat captains should join and make the PCA their trade organization. Details of the webinar will be announced on the PCA website, procaptains.org.
“With the multitude of issues that face professional captains in an ever-changing industry, the PCA will assist its members in navigating these challenges and be their voice against any potential legislation or regulations that we feel would be detrimental to our members,” said Salamy. “I am excited to accept this position and I look forward to virtually meeting both our existing and potential members in the upcoming webinar.”
