(PHILADELPHIA) — The latest idea to save the SS United States from the scrapyard is to turn it into a casino, television station WTXF reported. Preservationists said the historic U.S. liner did host gambling during its heyday. Activists in its current homeport of Philadelphia are pushing the casino idea and have scheduled more fund-raisers for the ship.
