Panama City officials refuse to pay for canal dredging project

(PANAMA CITY, Fla.) — City officials won’t pay to dredge the canal at Venetian Villa, the News Herald newspaper reported. The privately owned canal is being choked by stormwater sediment. The city council is worried that the project, on a private catch basin, is going to be too expensive for taxpayers if seawalls are part of the solution.
