R.I. shipyard Promet faces possible pollution fines from EPA

(PROVIDENCE, R.I.) — A Providence shipyard may face fines from the Environmental Protection Agency, the Providence Business News newspaper reported. Promet Marine Services Corp. allegedly expanded without the necessary permits sent untreated water from its powerwashing operation into the Providence River. The company said it plans to discuss the issues with the EPA and hopes to resolve them.
