Oregon Job Corps center trains new professional mariners (PHOTOS)

(ASTORIA, Ore.) — A local Job Corps center is training new professional mariners, the Daily Astorian newspaper said. Students at the Tongue Point Job Corps Center Maritime Training program are learning how to crew tugboats and other boats. About 50 students are seeking to become qualified able seamen or engine room crew, with hands-on instruction on the center’s six vessels.
