Crew on arrested ship almost runs out of food at Port Manatee

(MANATEE, Fla.) — The crew aboard the arrested ship Rio Magdelena almost ran out of food before a Christian-based mariners’ assistance program bought them some groceries, the Bradenton Herald newspaper reported. The freighter full of tomato stakes has been stuck at Port Manatee because it was arrested after fuel company ISO Bunkers filed a lien against the Panamanian shipowner. A deal has since been reached for the crew to receive back pay and a trip home.
