One company accuses the other during capsized-barge spill trial

(CAMPBELL RIVER, British Columbia) — The issue of who was responsible for the proper maintenance of a barge was the main controversy during a trial on the 2007 fuel spill in Robson Bight, the news Web site bclocalnews.com reported. Gowlland Towing, who tugboat was towing the logging equipment barge, said barge owner Ted Leroy Trucking should be held accountable for the rusting, foundering barge. The barge capsized and dumped trucks, including one with 10,000 liters of oil, into the area of a marine ecology sanctuary.
