In reversal, Maersk agrees to stay at Charleston through 2014

(CHARLESTON, S.C.) — Maersk Line has agreed to continue calling at Charleston through 2014 and continue using longshoremen, the Charleston Regional Business Journal reported. The Danish carrier earlier had announced that it would leave Charleston, citing cost disadvantages there. Maersk and the South Carolina State Ports Authority now have forged an agreement that will lower costs for Maersk by reducing its footprint at the Wando Welch Terminal.
