Oil-exploration vessels get stuck in ice off northern Alaska

(BARROW, Alaska) — Three oil-exploration vessels became stuck in Arctic ice along Alaska’s northern coast, the Anchorage Daily News reported. The Canadian vessels were hired to survey the possibility of drilling for oil in the Beaufort Sea.  By the time a U.S. Coast Guard helicopter arrived to check on the icebound ships, they had already freed themselves from the ice.
