NMC temporarily closes exam centers in Baltimore, Oakland and Seattle

The following is the text of a news release from the National Maritime Center:

(WASHINGTON) — On April 27, a civil state of emergency was declared by the governor of Maryland. As a result, the Regional Examination Center (REC) in Baltimore, Md., will be closed as of April 28, and will reopen on the following business day after this executive order is lifted (Editor's note: The state of emergency is in effect through Sunday).

Due to protest rallies scheduled to take place in Oakland, Calif., and Seattle, Wash., on Friday, May 1, stemming from the civil unrest in Baltimore, the Regional Exam Centers (RECs) in those cities will be closed that day. Normal business is scheduled to resume on Monday, May 4.

During the temporary closure, applications may be submitted to one of the other RECs. Please see the NMC website for a complete list of REC locations. If you have already submitted your application, then it will be processed by another REC.

If you have questions, please contact the National Maritime Center at 1-888-IASKNMC (1-888- 427-5662) or IASKNMC@uscg.mil.
