(MARTINSBURG, W.Va.) — Beginning Nov. 1, 2015, mariners who receive automated credential status e-mails will notice some changes. The e-mails have been revised in an effort to provide more clarity and greater separation between those referring to merchant mariner credentials or endorsements and those referring to medical certificates. Additionally, a new e-mail has been created to provide awareness of when an application has begun its initial processing. This e-mail will include the applicant’s mariner reference number and application ID, which are needed in order to check application status online. To check the status online, select Application Status in the upper-left corner of the National Maritime Center (NMC) homepage. In addition, all of the e-mails will contain a link directly to the NMC Chat function.
