(PORT ARTHUR, Texas) — More than 1,400 Port Arthur residents have joined a lawsuit claiming damages from the Eagle Otome oil spill, the Beaumont Enterprise newspaper reported. The ship operator has filed court papers attempting to limit its liability in the case. A Texas law firm representing the plaintiffs is attempting to have that filing dismissed.
