(PADUCAH, Ky.) — Towboat operator Marquette Transportation is exploring a sale that could value the company at more than $1 billion, Reuters reported. Marquette operates more than 120 boats and 850 barges in the U.S., serving agricultural and energy companies. Private equity firms and family offices are vying for Marquette, including the private investment firm of Michael Dell, chief executive officer of Dell Inc.
