Maersk Alabama captain still a hostage after failed pirate trade

(WASHINGTON) — The American captain of the Maersk Alabama is still being held hostage by Somali pirates after a failed bid to trade a captured pirate for him, the Washington Times newspaper reported. U.S. officials are worried that the ship captain may be taken back to the mainland, where it’s possible he would fall into the hands of a terrorist group. The captain is being held in a 28-foot lifeboat and is still in contact with his crew.
